Daily Kendoku (CanCan, SquareWisdom) #4

After a few Kendoku variants thay I’ve posted in the last 7 days, today I post my first classic Kendoku puzzle. However, it does have one special property – see if you can find what it is. Again, there are two versions of the same puzzle: an easier one with all operators filled in and a more difficult one with very few operators. Choose the one you prefer. Daily Kendoku (CanCan, SquareWisdom) #3

Some may not like the fact that today’s puzzle isn’t actually a SquareWisdom puzzle, instead, it’s actually a true hybrid between Killer Sudoku and Kendoku. Having implemented Kendoku puzzles into my solver&generator program, it was a no brainer to extend it a little further and allow all four operators for my Killer Sudoku puzzles. And here is the result! 🙂 To clarify things, be aware that ALL Killer Sudoku rules apply, namely:
  • numbers CANNOT be repeated in CAGES (nor in rows/columns/nonets)
  • This, of course, is true FOR TODAY’S PUZZLE ONLY! Other KenDoku puzzles on this site, follow all standard KenDoku rules. 9×9 Kendoku and Killer Sudoku hybrid for Wednesday, October 8, 2008. CalcuDoku for Wednesday, Oct 08, 2008

    Daily Kendoku (CanCan, SquareWisdom) #2

Next in line – Kendoku with unknown cages! This is similar to “Zero Killer Sudoku” where some cells do not belong to any cages. This one is relatively easy, but rest assured there are more difficult ones to come! 🙂 7×7 Kendoku UC (unknown cages) for Tuesday, October 7, 2008. CalcuDoku for Tuesday, Oct 07, 2008

    Daily Kendoku (CanCan, SquareWisdom) #1

Today’s puzzle is a diagonal Kendoku variant. In addition to all other standard Kendoku rules, there is one extra for this puzzle: the numbers cannot be repeated on either diagonal, just like they can’t be repeated on any row/column. This is marked in the puzzle with an “X” across. I’m posting two versions of the same puzzle: one with all operators filled in and one with very few operators. Choose the one you prefer. The one with reduced number of operators is obviously more difficult, but solvable! 9×9 Kendoku X (Diagonal) for Monday, October 6, 2008. CalcuDoku for Monday, Oct 06, 2008

Extra Special – Overlapping Kendoku TwoDoku puzzle

Well, a little later than anticipated, I am ready to show you my first Kendoku (aka Square Wisdom) puzzle! And to compensate for being late, I have created something really special – the first ever (?) Overlapping Kendoku (CanCan, Square Wisdom) puzzle! If you have seen overlapping Kendoku puzzles elsewhere – please let me know. Also, I’d like to let you know that as of Monday, October 6, 2008 I will be posting DAILY KENDOKU Puzzles here on the main page of the website! Kendoku Rules: Solve the puzzle so that every row and every column contain all numbers from 1-9. Therefore, numbers cannot be repeated in a row or in a column. Further, numbers in each region (cage) surrounded by thick lines must result in the number indicated for that cage by using the arithmetic operation shown for that cage. To be more specific:
  • for addition (+) and multiplication (x) when you add/multiply numbers in a cage, the result must be the same as the one shown for that cage
  • likewise for subtraction (-) and division (/), but make sure you start your arithmetic with the largest number in the cage!
  • if there is no arithmetic operator shown in a cage, you have to figure out what it must be
  • numbers CAN BE repeated in any cage
  • Anyway, here is today’s puzzle: 9×9 Kendoku in TwoDoku (Gattai-2) arrangement for Friday, October 3, 2008. CalcuDoku for Friday, Oct 03, 2008
