Frame Sudoku
A novelty for this site – Sum Frame Sudoku! ๐
No, it’s not an Outside Sudoku. It’s more of a Killer Sudoku Variant: the numbers outside the grid tell you the sum of the 3 numbers closest to it. So, yes, in a way it is also similar to Outside Sudoku, but here you do have to process the sums of 3 numbers (always 3!), hence it is more a killer variant. The rest of the rules are standard Sudoku rules.
I guess that’s clear enough for the rules of Frame Sudoku. If not, please ask questions.
UPDATE: I decided to present you not one, but two frame sudoku puzzles! First one is EASY, the second one is BRAIN. ๐ So enjoy!
Twin Killer Sudoku
Here is another Twin Killer Sudoku puzzle for you!
Remember… it’s a 2 in 1 Killer, but with no overlapping regions! Instead…
The Rules: Solve the puzzle so that the left half and the right half have the same solution. Other than that, the usual Killer Sudoku rules apply.
I’ve previously posted more puzzles like this one… for example, I’ve also posted a Twin Zero Killer Sudoku!

Previously I referred to these puzzles as “Super Samurai Sudoku“. Well, I’m going to start calling them what others call them and that is Sumo Sudoku.
Whatever you call them, there are 13 overlapping sudoku grids in each! Huge! And they overlap Samurai Sudoku style, so it’s like having 4 Sudoku Samurai puzzles on top of each other.
Finally… this puzzle that I’m posting now is a consecutive sudoku variant. ๐ Vertical and horizontal bars show cells which must contain consecutive numbers. Other adjacent cells must be non-consecutive.

Killer Kakuro Non Consecutive
As you may know, a while ago I started making Kenkuro puzzles and published a Kenkuro book. These puzzles are also known as Killer Kakuro and a new book with only those puzzles is coming soon!
Anyway… as I like to make variants of all sorts of puzzles, here is a non consecutive variant of Kenkuro. So… solve the puzzle using numbers 1 to 9, never place two consecutive numbers next to each other horizontally or vertically and of course, follow the totals given for each region. The totals include the arithmetic operation (addition +, subtraction -, multiplication x, division รท) which must be used in that region to obtain the total.
Got it? If not, feel free to ask :). And of course let me know how difficult it is… this one is ranked MEDIUM.

Poker Straights
Here is a new kind of puzzle, for this site for sure and at least I haven’t seen them elsewhere!
Remember the Straights puzzle? Well, this is kind of like it… but it’s called POKER Straights. The reason being that there are all 13 “cards” in play… from 2 to 10 and then Jack, Queen, King and Ace.
So… the rules are: in any region between two black squares (or between a black square and the border) the “cards” must constitute a poker straight. Now, in real poker, a straight is a set of 5 consecutive cards, but here there can be any number of cards in a straight, from 1 (any 1 card alone is a straight) to 13 (all 13 cards are, of course, a straight). Oh, and I nearly forgot… cards cannot be repeated in a row or a column!
Now, DO NOT confuse this with Consecutive Sudoku! It is nothing like it. The cards in a region do not have to be in a consecutive order!
For example, as we all know AKQJ10 is a straight. But also is KJA10Q. Or, 234 is a straight, but also is 423. Got it?
Anyway… here is the puzzle. The difficulty is BRAIN!
Please please please let me know what you think of this puzzle! ๐

Non Consecutive Sudoku Samurai
All those of you who are wondering where the weekly Samurai Sudoku puzzles are, well, first, please read this post.
Then, get ready to be happy. ๐ Here is today’s special puzzle: Non Consecutive Samurai Sudoku!
Although it looks like your ordinary 5 in 1 Sudoku gattai overlapping Samurai puzzle, there is one additional rule which must not be forgotten:
two consecutive numbers must not be placed next to each other!
Other than that, everything else remains the same!
By the way, there is a book full of Samurai Sudokus with additional rules, including 12 Consecutive Samurai and 12 NonConsecutive Samurai!
Enjoy! ๐

Jigsaw Tridoku
I’ve previously posted one Jigsaw Tridoku puzzle and it was labeled THINKER. This one is a bit more difficult (or so I think?) and it’s labeled BRAIN.
So… if you are unfamiliar with this concept, make sure to have a look at my introductory article on Triangular Sudoku. The rules and solving methods are there, too!
And then of course… this is not a plain Tridoku, instead, it is an irregularly shaped, also known as squiggly sudoku or jigsaw sudoku! ๐
Enjoy! ๐

Zero Killer Sudoku 10×10
As promised, I am starting posting all sorts of puzzles here on the main page, on a semi-regular basis (2-3 times a week).
And since today is Saturday, which used to be the day for Killer Sudoku 10×10 and tomorrow is Sunday, which used to be the day for Zero Killer Sudoku puzzles, quite appropriately, I would say, today’s puzzle is a mix of the two (and the first of its kind?):
And remember, the rule of 45 still applies! Be careful when analyzing possible cage sums, the addition of the 0 changes the game completely! Example: 3 over 2 cells is not necessarily 1+2 anymore! It could also be 0+3!!! Like it?

Where are the daily puzzles gone?
Dear all,
First I must apologize for keeping you in the dark regarding what’s going on with the daily puzzles. The truth is that I’ve been working hard on my PhD thesis and just had no time to update the daily and weekly puzzles pages.
Now… the daily Killer Sudoku, the daily Sudoku variants and the bi-weekly Samurai Sudoku pages will undergo some changes in 2014. For a while I will not post daily puzzles there. Instead, many puzzles will be posted here, on the main page of the site. We will see how it goes. If, say, in 3 or 6 months I see that this is not working for you and me, I will go back to how it’s been until now.
There is no fixed schedule on which puzzles will be posted and how often. I can promise that it will be at least 2 times a week, focusing on Killer Sudoku and variants thereof, Samurai Sudoku and variants thereof and Jigsaw Sudoku and variants thereof. Still, many new and different kinds of all sorts of puzzles will be posted, too.
I’m sorry if this makes some of you unhappy. I am always listening to your feedback and depending on what I hear from you, I might or might not go back to 2 to 3 puzzles every day.
Thanks for understanding!
Cheers,
Djape
