Introducing Kenkuro puzzles
In my previous newsletter I sent out a puzzle that is very special because it’s a completely new kind of puzzle. It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t share it with all of you. So, if you want to see what the puzzle is and if you like either Kakuro or Calcudoku or Killer Sudoku, […]
The Washington Post restarts with my Samurai Sudokus!
Good news folks! 🙂 The Washington Post have decided to restart printing my Samurai Sudoku puzzles in their Comics section of the Sunday issue… thanks to YOU! Apparently the readers have been clamoring for the return of Samurais and the editors had no other choice but to change their minds only a month after they […]

Outside Jigsaw Sudoku
Another novelty in 2010 – Outside Jigsaw Sudoku. Read the rules of Outside Sudoku first. And then, twist it a little – it’s a Jigsaw (Irregular) Sudoku puzzle! UPDATE: One clarification about the rules of Outside Jigsaw Sudokus: The clues tell you which numbers appear in the 3 closest cells in that row/column. They are […]

The Washington Post stops printing my Samurai Sudoku puzzles (NOT!) :)
Bad news folks, I’m afraid: the Samurai Sudoku puzzle printed in the Comics section of The Washington Post on Sunday, December 27, 2009, would’ve been the last Samurai puzzle printed in this newspaper. After four years and more than 200 Samurai puzzles, they have decided to stop this feature. From the editor: “The change is […]

Hitori
UPDATE: After some debate with udosuk (see comments), I’ve decided to adopt the rule that every cell must be either black or white, it can’t be left “undecided”. I’ve changed the original puzzle accordingly so you can download it now. At the end of last year, I announced that I will be introducing more types […]
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a nice Christmas and that you are enduring the cold weather well. Well, those in the Northern hemisphere anyway. 🙂 Let me tell you about the changes that I plan for 2009: There will be more Jigsaw Sudoku puzzles on the Daily Sudoku variants page. They will be accompanied by […]

Introducing “Sudoku Sequences” or “Sudoku Straights”
Here is a brand new Sudoku variation as a special Christmas present. Hope you will like it. The rules: 1. Use numbers 1-9. Numbers cannot be repeated in rows/columns. 2. There are no nonets (3×3 boxes) like in other Sudoku puzzles. 3. Black cells do not contain numbers. Therefore, not all numbers 1-9 will appear […]

Weekly Kakuro (Cross Sums) #2
To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of my first truly “INSANE” Killer Sudoku, posted on September 27, 2005, this week’s Kakuro is rather large and fairly difficult. Let me know how you like it. Rules: Solve the puzzle so that the numbers in every horizontal and vertical region add up to the sum indicated for that […]

Weekly Kakuro (Cross Sums) #1
This is my first Weekly Kakuro, which, like I said, from now on will be posted every Thursday. I’m still struggling to determine their difficulty, but they will usually be very difficult. Rules: Solve the puzzle so that the numbers in every horizontal and vertical region add up to the sum indicated for that region. […]
Kakuro
Nearly two years after I posted my first Killer Sudoku puzzle, I’d like to present you with it’s sibbling, my first ever Kakuro! For whatever the reason, I haven’t shown interest in these puzzles until recently. I thought I’d give them a go and here is the result. To be honest, knowing a thing or […]
