Weekly Kakuro (Cross Sums) #41 (SPECIAL!)

After a few weeks without Kakuro puzzles, this week I’ve prepared an extra special Kakuro puzzle: it’s a Non-Consecutive, Greater/Less Than, Odd/Even Kakuro puzzle! Rules: Solve the puzzle so that the numbers in every horizontal and vertical region add up to the sum indicated for that region. Numbers CAN NOT be repeated in any region. Additional rules: Two consecutive numbers MUST NOT BE placed next to each other horizontally or vertically. Shaded cells MUST contain ODD numbers, cells that are not shaded MUST contain EVEN numbers. If there is an “<" or ">” inequality sign between two cells, then the numbers in those cells must respect that inequality relationship. The puzzle should be relatively easy to solve because of all the additional restrictions. But it’s not too easy! Rules: Solve the puzzle so that the numbers in every horizontal and vertical region add up to the sum indicated for that region. Numbers CAN NOT be repeated in any region.

Saturday Special – Samurai X Killer Sudoku

Djape has kindly granted me my own corner as well, which I will use to present my own hand-designed Saturday Specials.  We’ll start things off with a big one. Samurai: This puzzle consists of 5 overlapping grids, which on their own don’t neccessarily have a unique solution, but together they do. X: Along the diagonal lines in each puzzle, the numbers 1-9 may not repeat.  This puzzle comes in two versions.  The first is IQ, the second is BRAIN (but less fun, in my opinion) Here is the IQ version Click on the puzzle thumbnail to access the puzzle.

The Viva La Vida Code

Viva La Vida……continued So we have a famous old painting hanging in the Louvre and a quote from Chris Martin about how he was brought up a Catholic but rejected the religion. Old painting + Louvre + Catholicism = DA VINCI CODE Could there possibly a hidden meaning on the album cover? In the quote about the Viva la vida song, Chris Martin mentions terrorists blowing up buildings ie; the 9/11 terrorist attack on the WTC in New York. So, if you looked at the CD cover and happened to find an artistic representation of 9/11 it would be fair to say that it MIGHT be intentional. (check out the paint “splash” that is different from the rest) If you then found another reference to New York on the album cover, it would be fair to say that it MUST be intentional. Go find them!

Viva la vida

Hi y’all Long time no post. Hope you’ve all been keeping well. For the first time in months I’ve had an urge to make a killer. However before you get the killer I’m going to put you through some hoops and make you think a bit. The song “Viva la vida” by Coldplay is a musical phenomenom. Since it appeared in a global ipod TV commercial, it has achieved worldwide succeess, reaching number one in the US and has propelled Coldplay to the status of biggest band in the world. But nobody knows what the song is about. People say it’s about the Crusades, the French revolution, Jesus, the Bible, lost love, loneliness, war etc etc. Here are the lyrics; and here is the album cover Firstly, what do you think the meaning of the song is? After 3 posts or 100 views I will move on to the next bit. (Stick with this because I guarentee it’ll be good) The Viva La Vida Code (part two)

Welcome back Mike!

I’m pleased to announce something new on this site – user contributed posts and puzzles here, on the main site (instead of in the forum). mikejapan will be the first contributor, since he’s been most creative in the forum (although he’s made a break, but now he’s back). Mike will start with his latest post from the forum, so we’re moving that discussion here. I’ll be glad to add more users as we go on. Hope you’ll enjoy this!
